"UTP" accident kills two women, injures another

TRONOH, March 4, 2010- Two women perished in a car accident at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Technology Park early Thursday morning, authorities say.

Ipoh Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Noh Ismail said that the crash occur just after 3 am in the 10 block of Universiti Teknologi Petronas at Lake Road.

The dead were Jenny Richards, 22 and Nichole Tamara Johnsons, 19 both of Canadians. Meanwhile, Raihana James, 18 and Julian Cruises, 21 are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Their exact condition is unknown. The victims were taken to Hospital Ipoh, Perak.

 The only thing friends of four victims could do when they arrived at the accident at the accident scene was stare in disbelief.

"I'm here at the site and it's still not real yet", says Ivanovic Kargbo, a friend.

Police said that the car, a 2003 Nissan Sentra, left the roadway and ended up in a yard. According to a police report, the driver couldn't negotiate a curve on Universiti Teknologi Petronas and ended up crashing into the driveway wall of a nearby home and then flipped. It finally wrapped around a tree.

People who live in this neighborhood said, accidents happen here all the time.

Elizabeth Tailor who is Tamara's best friend saw Tamara and the other two women at dinner earlier in the evening. Tamara told her they were on their way to a club in the town.

"At dinner I told her a couple of things and we cleared up a few things but it hurt because I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to her ". Elizabeth says. "We parted each other. Then, I gave her a hug and we did this little thing where we do like this and we left".

Further investigation will be conducted immediately by the police to obtain information regarding this tragic accident.
